Emerging Encore Career Opportunities In the Green Economy
In a recent study CAEL, Council for Adult and Experiential Learning have brought forward some new ideas about what to do next if you are a retiring baby boomer.
It is no secret that the baby boomers have for the most part had very busy careers and many will find retirement anticlimactic. It is likely many will postpone retirement as long as possible just to keep busy.
However new opportunities are and will be created in the GREEN technologies and GREEN companies. The study, published by CAEL highlights the looming labor shortages in many sectors and many retired baby boomers desire to do something meaningful, while benefiting society in general.
The following statements provides the road-map
“By refocusing their knowledge, skills and experience, boomers can
help meet the growing demand for talent in the green economy; play a
major role in advancing energy independence and environmental sustainability;
and assist in the creation of new jobs for all ages.”
• “Boomers interested in continuing to work … represent a potentially massive
green army of workers committed to improving the environment.”
If you are going to retire or have already retired and are looking for some new ideas and activities to fill your life this is a worth while read.
